(By Mail to United Press). Horing with a giant churn drill into the KUauea on the island of Hawaii was begun a few days ago. ': The purpose is to atempt to pipe and utilize either the steam or gas of the volcano for Industrial purposes, especially for furnishing power for the Island's many sugar mills. Steam heated to 90 degrees ccntl rrade was struck ten feet down. Fur ther drilling 1b proceeding in order to try to tap steam under enough pros sure to make it commercially useful. If volcanic force can be used for Industrial purposes, Hawaii will come close to having free power, and a near approach will have been made to "perpetual motion."
