Aalrplunes thut come . straight down have been plentiful. v But It took u Denver Inventor, Chas. S. Barrett, to make one that will go straight up. It full-sized planes work as well us his model has, ulr transportation has been re volutionized. ; The most trouble some problem of the aviator In prac tical flying Is the necessity for a fly ing field. Barrett's plane, If successful, would alight on top of the' poHtbfNce build ing in the heurt ,of a city, never stop I SMSMMSII 111? 0 0 the engine, change pilots anr mull pouches and be on Its way. It would hold almost perfectly still over cer tain places In - the Grand Canon where rhen have never been, while observations were made. The main difference between his plane and the monoplane is that the wing is circular- and so made that it becomes" vertical propeler with tho pull of a lever. The motor power Is readily shifted from the usual propeller to the new one and the plane is lifted straight in the air Instead of running along- the ground before taking off. Bar l'uu huh tried out his plane on a model and says It worked perfectly. Several investors have offered to put up money enough to develop the Idea, but Barrett is looking for a cer tain kind of a partner. ' do ndt want to get rlcn,' though the invention is worth a fortune," be-' said. "There Is my guide.",':, He pointed to the Bible. . ,V .
