European woman ten nis champion. -Hill defend her title at Wimbledon in June, if she is physi cally able, she said at the recent tour nament here. The French star added that she hoped Mrs. Molla Bjurstedt Mallorv, the American champion, who defated i I her last summer in the United States. would be one of the entries in the British title play at Wimbledon, as she felt sure she could prove that the incident of last summer was a fluke. Charles Leglen, the girl's father who trained her from the time she was able to swing a racquet, was with her during the March tournament and said that she had not completely re covered from the illness that caused her to default in the American cham pionships. Mile Lenglen looked well, however, while she was staying here. Her spir its seemed higher and she admitted that she felt much better since she had been able to return to the court. While her plans for the summer are indefinite, Mile. Lenglen said one thing is certain she Is not going back to the United States for vindication. City-bonds of Wallula in the sum of S34.000 have been awarded to the state over bonding firms from Port land, Seattle and Spokane. The state submitted a B 1-2 bid and a par prem ium. ... . ....
