The antagonism to the proposed Umatllta-Walltila cutoff is not felt In Umatilla the way It Is In Pendleton, for the plan would make Umatiila a point of diverting traffic. This cutoff has been iilaced on. the toad map of primary highways by the secretary of the department of agri culture, without the request of the state highway commission, and since the announcement that the cutoff has been thus designated, Pendleton has been highly Indignant.
