Xev., March SI. (lT. P.) A rlsld-test of a dovice to keep an airplune pilot flying straight, despite the height, or clouds. Is being given a risrld test there by mall aviators. The device wna Invented by two ,"?alt Lake men, D. G. Wright, and Herhert Marsh. . . The device Is comosed of four small glass tubes filled with mercury, which close and break an electrlo cir cuit as the plane tins In the direction that csur.es the liquid to flow. The device Is declared to be espec ially valuable to the pilot when he Is too far above the earth to see or when a storm obscures his vision of the ground. It Is at such times as these thnt the pilot loses his Bense of baU nnee. anl sllcwn his plant to slip, crashing to earth, or starting on a death uive before he-realizes what Is happening. The least tip longitudin ally of literally causes the mercury to flow to the end of tho glass tube, closing the circuit, which lights a small electric lamp in -the Indicator face, which warns the pilot.
