He owns is product just like he thinks ho wns his land and that is until nis creditors demand their pound of flesh and away goes his product to save his land and finally his land goes the same road and ho becomes a tenant job owner or lands in the city selling his labor just like his much abused city brother worker. He ls threatened with lynching, for The-' resa's death Is the latest of a num ber of brutal murders of children in New Jersey and New York. scheme for sidling his product is proof of his exact likeness of his city broth er. He simply cannot strike or he cer tainly would do so with a vengenee. Moreover his job-slavery-ownership dulls his mind. He thinks he Is a miniature Rockefeller and you cannot make him believe otherwise until he "goes busted." in his environment lies all his patience and qualities cull ed noble by the correspondent. A brief description by way of comparison of these two classes will verify what 1 have written of the farmer. The city laborer has no ownership problem to "hog tie" him. He owns neither his job or product. He is, of social necessity, employed in great col lectively operated plants, factory, mine and mill, which are privately owned by individual or corporation in terests, totally" unlike the farm which may both be owned nnd operated in dividually. He organizes effectively and sells bis labor to the employer, Just as the, farmer would sell his pro duct if he could make his organiza tion effective, which he cannot. He can strike with but the loss of his ac tual time because there is nothing of seasons, maturity etc. to be considered in his occupation, which holds the farmer steadily on the job. .Much more might be said for prac tical consideration by our farmer friend but we await his consideration of this letter.
