Gandhi studied law In Great Britain ,

of h!s contemporaries who had tho
advantage of a European education, a
confirmed British loyalist he whole-

Gandhi is a Jain, a ;ery high caste

cow's flesh, because to the Jains a
cow is a sacred animal; and an ab

the pig is an unclean animal.
He took his law degree and for a

profession, because he could not con- i

believed in might to force its rights.

In 1904 there was an outbreak of

In 1913, while he was being con
