Miss HartnUt presented all the little girls In her room with a string o: beads, and all the little boys with a toy, while Mr. Olcman the principal presented his pupils with a book. These are the first teachers we have ever had who remember the children thusly. The program for the tree w.is fur nished entirely by the school children, and was very good. Suitable lands' on the island of Mo loknl, only a small portion of whlcn is now under cultivation, have been selected on which to try the experi ment of rehabilitating the Hawaiian race through putting the people back onto the land. Irrigation water will be necessary to the proper development of theso lands, members of the com mission state, although dry farming methods may bo experimented with as well. Regular instruction In scientific agrlcultur.nl methods will bo given to the Hawaiian settlers as a part of the rehabilitation scheme.
