Address 709 Gerard St., Portland, Ore., Uni versity Park. PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 12, (A. P.) The knitting wave among women and girls has set the spindles and yarn mills in every section of the city work ing day nnd ni;;ht. Many spinners have orders to keep them busy for some time to come. As a result thousands of workers will not have to worry about the coming win ter. But on top of this an appeal of the Red Cross to the knitters to take up again the needle to make sweaters, comfortables, jackets and pulse warm ers for distribution to the needy will cause a demand for millions more pounds of woolen yarns. This holds true not for Philadelphia alone, but also all over the United States. And while the cost of knitting is small to each person in the aggregate it means millions. And as long as the demand continues workers will be kept busy at the mills. "M. P.V OX THE JOn WASHINGTON, Nov. 12. (U. P.) The dreaded "M. P." will shine in all his glory again during the Washing ton conference. While the American soldier is an ex cellent fighting mnn, he Is a bit care less about his dress and Is prone to overlook an unforseon button and lit.
