S. as to alleged plans of the French govern ment after the American election and issued the following official statement: 'American publications" In the last week nave printed reports according to which the French government's inten tion was to recall its ambassador in the event of and as soon as a republi can president assumes office. . The new ambassador it was asserted, would have instructions to meet the republican viewpoint concerning the League of Nations and also try to reach an alliance of some kind be tween the United States and France. A new association of nations was alleg ed to be the policy of the new am bassador, in which the two great re publics would play predominant parts. Such information is absolutely ground less. Following is the endorsement as signed by the mothers of former ser vice men: ; "We the undersigned mothers of the ex-aervlc men of Columbus do hereby riant as an instrument of saving the mothers of future fenerations from sending their sons to war. J . w i l U L i Ml Umatilla county is one of the SI Ore gon counties which share in the distri bution of $121,623.51, derived from na tional forest business in Oregon dur ing the fiscal year of 1920. The amount is 25 per cent of the total re ceipts from the forests for the year and goes to swell the road and school funds of the counties in which thel forests are located. The Umatilla forest divides $4,390.34 among Grant, Umatilla, Morrow, Un Ion and Wheeler counties, Umatilla receiving the largest share as It has 1S6.Z37 acres, the acreage being larger than that of the other counties. Of the $3,323.96 from the Wenaha forest, Umatilla county receives the largest share because of Its acreage of 191,- 121 Is greater than the acreage of Union and Wallowa. In the Whitman forest, which contributes $36,052.96 to Baker, Grant Malheur, Umatilla, Union and Wallowa counties, Umatilla receives the smallest amount as the county acreage is 'but 665 acrej. !
