But with plenty of money assured there Is every hope of a successful showing. i One of the big problems of the Brit ish was to find accommodations for the team. At first it Was proposed to obtain a camp In the vicinity. When landowners learned what the ground was to be used for, however, prices skied and It was necessary to make j other arrangements. Through a Brit-' ish sportsman well known In Antwerp accommodations finally were found, and the Olymplo association now Is trying to help the clay-bird shooters to flmr Townr for theirs prospective American opponents, who applied to 'hem as being nearer the scene of ac tion. By putting the preliminary events Into the hands of branch organizations the Olympic association has made an excellent mart in selecting contestants. The Amateur Swimming association la conducting trials among swimming clubs all over England. Winners of these events will be formed Into a team of eighty men. to compete in the July finals. A water polo match Is planned between teams from North snd South England, from which the English team will be picked. Ireland, Scotland and Wales will select a Joint team to play the English team, and players who ahow up best in the match will go to Antwerp. their own sections of the big team. The Athena bunch ran true to form, putting up a game that lost them the honors by one run. They -have lost more games by one run this year than have been won by any team in the league. The east end boys started out In the first Inning to gather in a flock of runs when If. O Pixel got life on a third strike that evaded Hayx. McPherln's hit, a passed ball, an error by Ammon and three dinky hits gave Athena three runs, II. Oeisel and R. Oelsel crossing the pan. No more counters were made by Athena until the eighth when Lieuollen tripled to left and came home on an error In right field. Bucks Score In Third The locals didnt start scoring. until the third when Newton got around on walk, stolon base, wild pitch and Peterson's double. They tied up the score In the fourth. IIHIx Defeats' Milton. - The most vital of the three games played In the Blue Mountain league Sunday wns won by Helix at Milton by the close score of 4 to 3. The Helix bunch Just nosed out the runners-lip and romped home with the victory. The two teams went into the ninth with the Bcore tied at two-all. Helix stepped out ond made two runs and Milton's best effort was to come hack wfth one In their half. Magee pitch ed for Helix and Jordan for MHton and both men worked in good shape. Magee had the Milton batters swinging a little the harder and they seldom connected for solid blows. A crowd estimated at 1500 sow the gome. Pilot Rock Takes One At Walla Walla the Pilot Rock team repeated Its dose of last Sunday by again defeating the Rears. The score was 7 to 3. Most of the runs on both sides were made early In the game, pilot Rock getting to "Toots" Paris' offerings early. Both pitchers got better as the game progressed and each mired the aide once during the game on three pitched balls. There were several close decisions In the game which didn't suit Mellon. Walla Walla's manager, but the small crowd on hand for the most part were mum. The Bears had several new men In the lineup but failed to sup port their young pitcher In the field. Gla zier's pitching was largely responsible for Portland winning. A single and three double In the fourth which scored three runs, gave the Tigers the afternoon contest. Seattle and Oakland broke even on a dauble header, Oakland winning the morning game, 8 to ' 3 and Seattle the afternoon. 3 to 0. Seattle won the series, four to three. The morning game was Oakland's from the eecond inning: With the aid of Stumpff's error, Brenton filled the bases with walks and Wramer cleaned up with-a two begger to center.. In the afternoon the Oaks were unable to hit Demaree In the pinches. They made 13 hits and had 14 men left on bases. Seattle bunched three hits and scored one run in the fifth said in the sixth two singles and a double gave them two more. Senators Win In Afternoon SACRAMENTO, Cal.. June 21. After holding San Francisco to a tie game In the morning, Sacramento won the afternoon contest 5 to 1 and tied the series, each club having won three games. Bill Prough had the Seals at his mercy throughout the entire nine innings, and but for an error and a scratch infield single in the ninth would have banded them a shutout. I Sheehan of Sacramento hit a home run over the right field fence In the fourth inning. Angels and Been Divide SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. June 21. Los Angeles and Snlt Lke divided double header, the Angels taking the first, 12 to 5, and the Bees the second. 4 to S. Los Angeles made a batting carnival of the first contest, scoring eleven runs in the first two innings. Every Angel player scored at least once.
