I was hit November 7 last and laid In tit. Anthony's hospital 82 days from November 7, 1919, until January 26, 120. After being out about two months I was compelled to bo gack and the doctors found It was neces sary to amputate my foot. I was there twenty-two days the last time. After I left the hospital 1 sent my doe tor bill and hospital bill to the State Industrial Accident Commission, thinking of course I had Insurance under the compensation act as I hud paid Into the fund for almost a year. Every man who is insured under the state industrial accident law Is inter ested in my case. For the simple reason they have no protection whatever if this law Is good. ' For Instance, the commission write? me that I am entitled to $2200 and had I transferred my claim agalnsl the railroad company to the state the) could have brought suit In my name nnd collected up to $20,000 and turn t'd it over to the accident commission nnd 1 could have done nothing good law. If such law is good it is about time the people who are insured under t hit- law should know It. Tou see in the Portland papers the great sum of money the' commission has on hand. No wonder when they lake every week a cent a day from every worjtingman in this state and pay when they fool like it. " I have known of cases where the state agent went Into shops in this city and demanded of the owners that the take out insurance under the state in dustrial Compensation Act Blue Sky Insurance. , " ' It looks to me that this law waf put on the Statue Books of Oregon t protect the big employees of labor and hot the working men of the state. Aw this hole they are trying to crawl through is so far. from general Insur ance rules that have been in use for so many years seems absurd. Now after being laid up seven months and loosing my .foot, and an expense of $1400.00 if I get any money from the state Industrial 1 Accident Commission I must collect It through the courts of this state, Great law. great protection for the working men of this state, take their money every time they can and pay them nothing when they are injured. My honest opinion Is, anj man who insures his employes under the Indus trial Accident Law of this state corn its a crime, helps the state to take theii money for insurance they can never collect unless the commission see fit to pay him. I presume they have plenty of other holes to crawl through if they want to do so.
