Potatoes Advance to SI a Sack. The predicted rise in the price of potatoes lias come. The retail price is now $4 a sack, instead of $3.75 a sack, the former price. The tubers are scarce because of the cold weather and it is thought the price wilt go still higher before the winter is over. i Turkeys Not So I Plentiful This Season. j Turkeys are not so plentiful as they wvrt- during the Thanksgiving season. ! but it Is expected by local poultry ; men that the birds will be more plen- tiful on the market at Christmas ! time. Califor nia head lettuce is retailing at 15 cents and SO cents a head. Celery is from 15 cents to 20 cents a head. Cauliflow ers are from 35 cents to 45 cents a head. Brussels sprouts are 30 cents a pound. Artichokes retail at from 120 cents to 25 cents. Cucumbers are !25 cents each. Tomatoes have not yet arrived but they are expected at any time. DR. H. M.
