A guess ing contest of poets and authors was won by Mrs. Melntyre. Light refreshments were served by the hostess. Guests of the club were Miss Adaline Melntyre, Mrs. William Albee. Miss Irlna Ruther of Helix; Mrs Jas. Wagner. Mrs. Ralph Porter. Mrs. Will Campbell and Miss Mae Sawyer. The next meeting of the club will be held December 4 at the home of Mrs. Frank Garrett in North Cold Springs. 1-9 WW In charge of the event was a com mittee composed of Harry McFarland. Joseph Boyd, Dr. B. G. Vinson, Al Carden and J. E. Pinson. commander of the post. The event is an annual one and proceeds from the 1919 affair will go toward support of orphan kid dles of France "adopted" by the post and its auxiliary. Nearly all of the party of Pendleton Maccabees, numbering nearly 40, who went to Ia Grande for a Wednesday session of the lodge arrived home yes terday, a group of them returning on No. 17 and others in a special car last evening. Upon reaching the hostess city Wednesday the visitors were greeted by the I-a Grande Maccabee captain and guards, attired In white, who es corted them to the K. of P. hall where nota churming luncheon was served, the tabler being decked with a profusion of pink and white chrysanthemums j and covers being laid for 140 persons. I During the afternoon session the Pendleton review put on first degree work and after a recess supper wai served in the hall and the La Grande lor'ge followed with second degree j work, 21 candidates taking the de crees, four of them being members of the Pendleton party. A prominent Maccabee member at the La Grande session was Mrs. Pau line Riley of Portland, state president recently appointed by Mrs. Minnie Ayedlot, deputy supreme commander, and she was presented Wednesday even'ng with a token of esteem by the La Grande chapter. Mrs, James Dun ham of the local lodge was presented with carnations by the Pendleton re view and the session adjourned.
