Charles Warfield who spent more than a year in the aviation branch of the navy, seeing much overseas ser vice, has returned to his home in Mil ton after spending some time in the employ of J. N. Hurgess near Pilot Rock. Mrs. - H. S. Shangle and daughter Ruth, returned Wednesday from Port land where they enjoyed a week's va cation and witnessed the welcome to President and Mrs. Wilson Monday. Miss Aubrey Hodgen has accepted a position as assistant postmaster at Freewater and began her duties the first of the week. Mrs. A. F. Compton and daughter, Helen, of Columbus, Montana are vis iting" relatives and friends in Milton, having arrived here Wednesday eve ning. More than a million and one half dollars are on deposit in the banks of tlio twin cities according to , state ments published last week in answer to a call from the comptroller of the currency. This is the .high mark for bank deposits in- this valley and re flects the unprecedented prosperity of residents of this section.
