TwoJhousand students of the University ol Oreeon served in the m'ar, according to a service rec- ord just completed by Emma Wooton Hall, secretary nt military affairs on the campus. Thirteen ranks are rep resented in the list headed by two colonels and five lieutenant colonels. Colonel Creed Hammond, of Eu gene, has the distinction of being the ranking colonel of the state of Ore gon. He entered the University in 1889. Colonel Calvin U. Gantenbein, judge of the circuit court of Portland, granduated from the University law school in 1891. The five lieutenant colonels ars Frank Reid Mount of Oregon City who received his A. B. degree In 1908 and his M. D. In 1911: Condon C. Mc- J Cr.rnack. of Eugene, graduate of 1910; nn naimona tsaroer. graauate oi 1893: James A. Gailogly, of Gladstone. Oregon, a member of the class of 190r and later a graduate of West Point is now a student of Interna tional law at King's college. University of London; R. C. Tenney, a member of the medical faculty, went to France with base hospital 46. 490 Commissioned. The total number of commissioned officers is 490. of whom 446 are in the army, 24 In the navy, ft in the marines and 11 in Y. M. C. A. and Red Cross service. Eighty two were candidates for commissions when the armistice was signed. There are 173 forme? T'niversity men In the list of non. commissioned officers and 28 are are petty officers In the navy. Ranking as commissioned officers are 4go men. The list Includes two colonels, five lieutenant colonels 26 majors. 80 captains, 207 first lieuten ants. 176 second lieutenants. 6 senior lieutenants, 20 ensigns, one Red Cross colonel, three Red Cross lieutenants, two Red Cross captains and seven Y. Something over 600 men en listed while members of the Univer sity student body and something like over 500 saw overseas service.
