' WESTO.V, Ore., April 4. J. P. O'Brien, federal manager of railroads in this district, had his private car set out at Weston from 9 to 12 o'clock Wednesday forenoon. Mr. O'Brien was here by Invitation of the Weston Com mercial Club, to consider the matter of lmorovine the road between tne depot and town. Mayor J. M ister. Dr. F. E. Watts and B M. Smith were appointed by the Com mercial Club as a committee to con fer with Mr. O'Brien. He promised the committee that he would recom mend an appropriation for the Im provement of the road. L. W. BarneB of Chelan, .Wash., a pioneer of th Weston country, is vis iting relatives and friends In Weston. Mrs. Frank Skinner Is in a Pendle ton hospital where she was operated on Thnursday morning for the remov al of hef tonsils. J. D. ' The pupils of Weston high school celebrated April's Fool Day by taking an outing. Kveryone, Including the tuachers, walked up to the dam ,iea ing all thilughts of study behind them. The afternoon was spent In taking pictures and rambling over the hillsides to pick flowers. About o'clock a bonfire was built, over which "welnles" were roasted ann marshmaUows toasted. There wers nlentv of other goodies, and the hum Ban-lfy athletes showed that they very much enjoyed the campfire meal, After everything was devoured, every one started on the return walk, and about 6 o'clock some very tired pu pils' came limping Into town.
