There is water in the Western I-and Co.'b ditch, the first time for the season and tho farmcra are busy with ihcir eprhiff work. Two Mowers are fit tho station fill ing cars with chopped hay. Also, much baled hay is being loaded at present. Mrs. Stevens of Lower Butter creek has been called to Salem by tho seri ous illness of her mother, Mrs. Basey. Mr. and Mrs. C. IS- Lisle and small son, of Pendleton, aer visiting at the home of Mrs. Leslie s parents, Mr. anu Mrs. James Ware. C. P. "Stanyan has been appointed gate keeper at the diversion dam near Umatilla. The water for the Irrlgon project is taken from the river at that place. Mr. Stanyan has leased his farm near here to Arthur Luce for the coming year. James Spencer has been to Pendle ton for medical treatment the last few days. Ho is suffering from re cent injuries to his back. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Warren and daughter Jane were down recently, from their farm near Pendleton visit ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. . H. Shaw.
