The plant and building of the Rogu River Courier was today visited by disastrous fire which left the me chanical department a mass of black ened smoked and water-soaked ruins. The fire started in the rear of the building where the melting of metal for the linotype had been In progress, and spread rapidly to the office building. Flour Seized at Seaside. ASTORIA, Ore., June 28. Federal authorities, assisted by the town mar' shal at Seaside, last evening made search of homes at that place. They seized 190 pounds of wheat flour at the residence of L M. Thlbodo and six sacks at the residence of J. W. Mit chell. Rig Lumber Order Rue. SEATTLE, June 28. The West Coast Lumbermen's Association re ceived advices from Washington today stating the government is soon to place orders for 83000,000 feet of Douglas fir with Oregon and Wash ington mills. Berger, the village postmaster, a German spy, tries to force a marrl age between himself and Jeanne, In tlmidatlng her uncle, Leopold, through gambling debt the latter owes him Victor, In Paris, mets and becomes Infatuated with Counters de Vrles, a German secret ofient, and forgetr Jeanne. War breaks out. Victor joins the colors. Wounded In defending an at tack on the village, his eyesight aP' parently is destroyed. He is brought to Paris. Jeanne follows and nurses him, but does not disclose her lden tlty to her blind lover. Thoroughly deceived, Victor thinks only of the countess, and Jeanne, with breaking heart, is obliged to pen his love letters to her. Victor recovers. He can see.' But Jeanne, in desplair, has fled. Expos ed, the countess Is arrested as a spy. Disillusioned. Victor learns to his amazement that it was Jeanne who nursed him through his illness. He follows here to Belgium and attempts reconciliation. She refuses him, but finally when captured by the Germans as a spy Victor, who has regained his regi ment, saves her life and the two are haplly reunited.
