Phelps were hostesses yesterday at 1:30 o'clock t the home of Mrs. Stsnfield. Quaint old fashioned compote filled with gleaming (liver apple? and golden or ange with gold and silver foliage served as center attractions for the seven small tablag which the guests encircled. Gold leaves were used as place cards and favors, the whole ef fect being decidedly Vogue-like ami unusually pretty. Following lunch eon several rubbers of bridge were enjoyed, the dainty favor for high score being awarded to Mrs J. F. Robinson. Today Mrs. Stanfield and Mrs. Phelps are again entertaining the diversion taking the form of a large bridge party at the home of Mr. Fhelps, Violin pupils of Bert Allen McDon. aid are preparing a program of music for recital in the near future. About twenty violins will be heard In en semble, quartets for four violins with duets and trios will be presented, duets and trios wil lbe presented. Some of the younger students will play solo. Having formerly been a member of the University of Oregon football team, Mr. Scott took unusual enjoyment out of the victory of the west over the east. , Mr. and Mrs. C. H, Ewry of Pilot Rock, left today for Cafnsville, Mo, for an extended visit. Mr. EwTy Is a well known real estate man. Mr and Mrs. MeCullough are making their some in .anipa. The Jitney dance in Eagle-Woodman Hall tonight promises to be one of the most enjoyable of the season. It is entirely informal and there wil; be good music and refreshments. The affair is given under the auspices of the club room committee j which is seeking to raise funds to furnish the club room of the county library. All are urged to attend. G. E.
