This picture Is a Vivid tale of newspaper life, Diana being a re porter on one of the biggest sheets In New York city. . Thrills are many ai Miss Stewart In the title role, receives her different assignments which gradually lead in to the plot Itself. In one scene we find Diana roaming about the streets trying to find some news for her pa per. Suddenly the clanging fire engines appear and the crowds hurry after them, Diana In their midst. This was no "fake" the engine are really going to a fire and so are the crowds. In fact, the crowd was so Intent on getting where the excite ment was that they failed to look at the camera which was traveling through the streets In a movmg au tomobile. This Is quite unusual and was something of a treat to Director S. Rankin Drew, who is responsible for the production. The fire In the picture Is a factory fire and as Miss Stewart stands in the street, horrified we are shown on the screen (he sight upon which she is supposed to gaze. As the smoke circles slowly from the windows of a great stone build ing the different workers leap out frantically In their Insane desire to reach the Rtreet. Director Drew is noted for the real. Ism which he instills Into his pic tures and his "Daring of Diana" Is no exception to the rule. There's a thrill In every few feet without any melo. dramatic Impressions being carried tfl the audience. A Ha Sunday and Monday, The feminine admirers of Fannie Ward, the beautiful photodramatic actress, have a great treat in store for them when they see the forthcoming Jesse L. Lasky production of "Each Pearl a Tear," which will be seen the Alta on Sunday and Monday with MIks Ward in the stellar role. Miss Ward recently returned from New York with an assortment of the lat ent fashions of the eastern costume designers, and she will have an oppor tunity to display them to full advan tage in th's hehicle. Jack Dean, her husband, made the remark that If anybody In New York wanted a new gown they would have to send out to Miss Ward for it. as she bought up all there were In that city. He also as serted that he wai kept so busy pay ing costumers' and milliners' bills that he did not have time to get measured for as much as a handkerchief. LOCALS Atvet tiiing in Briet - KATES. I'ntil two years ago little, if any objection was ever heard concerning appointment of relative to office deputyships. At that time it became noised around that County Clerk Scaling was offending the publii sense of propriety by employing his daughter i a stenographer.
