Locally there was little change In the price of wheat as compared with the closing of last week, the situation In genersl being considered steady. Foreign situation Is quiet with practically no change in the Liver pool cash market fur the week al though toward the close there was a slight improvement in the cargo situ, atlon: Crop conditions all over the world are being eagerly scanned by the trade. The feature was the sale of 200,000 pounds o( Ohio fleece at an advance of a cent. The prices ran from 32 cents to 39. One Boston house paid 35 cents for sever al Montana freak clips of extra grade. A Utile buyin; has been done in Washington and Oregon on the basis of a clean landed cost of 73 to 75 tents for staple. Scattering clips have been taken in Nevada and Utah at a clean landed coat of 72 cents. Despite the lack of American com. It seems fairly well assured, according tn a special committee of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. f which A. W. Iouglas, of St. Louis, is chairman, that the winter wheat pro duction this year will be appreciably less than that of 1915 and 1914. in fact, according to this predicion it will be below the ten-year average of the decade 1906-1916. approximately one. third leas than the harvest of 1915. or roughly speaking, around 450.000. 000 bushels.
