KANSAS CITY, Sept. 27. Brit
ish agents in the last months have
bought more Than 1 5,000 pack mules
here, according to statements by lo
cal dealers.
Some of the mules taken recentl
were more than I i yeara old, the
dealers said. In the last two weeks
more than 1500 mules haw been
shipped out of Kansas City routed by
way of New Orleans to Egypt. It Is
believed the Missouri mules will be
used to supply transportation for a
new Asiatic campaign against, the
Turks.

PORTLAND, Ore. Hogs and cat
tle were weaker and lower today at
North Portland with the total run of
livestock 19 cars, or the greatest vol
ume of arrivals for a very extended
period.
There fraal another increase in the
marketing of hogs at North Portland.
Totals over Sunday w-ere 2893 head
compared with 2 B 90 last week and
16S0 head this same day a year ago.
During the early part of the day's
trading it was apparent that the sit
uation was not as good as last week's
closing and offers of buyers wtre
