"Dusty" Rhodes, proprietor of the St. George Cafe, received a tel egram today announcing the death of his valuable Cocker spaniel at Gib bon. He had taken the dog to Binir Ham Springs with him and, on the re turn trip, the Httle animal had fallen off the running board of the auto. Mr. Rhodes left the dog at Oihbon for treatment. Helix Pool Itwm Burns. Helix had a hot blaze last night when flames attacked the pool room operated by Murphy & Son and almost the entire town turned out to battle the fire according to W H. Morrison who Is in from that town today. The flames were quenched after they had gutted the building which was almost ruined. Mr. Galbralth is ted to hop that in the course of time a similar blessing may come to Mm. His misfortune was due to rheumatism affecting the optic nerve. Just now he Is doubly unfortunate, having been crippled about eight weeks ago by a horse stepping upon his right foot. An old Injury was thus aggravated, caus ing Intense pain. The Oregon Journal of Portland will this year run a "purple special'' to Pendleton for the Round-up and Is al ready making reservations for the round trip Including admission to the Friday and Saturday exhibitions with reserved grandstand seats, according to L. O. Frazler and Charles Marsh, Round-up directors who have Just re turned from Portland. The train will be the last word In special trains from the standpoint of equipment and ser vice and will be run over the O.-W. R. & N. lines. It will reach Pendleton early Friday morning and return to Portland Sunday morning. Today a block of 300 reserved seats for the last two days of the Round-up was for warded to the Journal.
