Gus Wagner, and their 4-year-old child, and wept to Billings. Mont., with Hufford. Pre vious to the departure of the couple Wagner accompanied his wilfe to the bank, drew their Joint savings, which be presented to his wife, telling her to go with Hufford If she loved hl'n most. the woman was gone two months and then wrote her husband she de sired to return to him and their child. He sent her 150 and she came back to Fremont Their reconciliation was short lived and In a few days tho appeared In court and agreed to the adoption of their child by the wife's brother. Mrs. Wagner then disappeared, de spite the pleadings of her husband, and the latter pressed his divorce suit and was given the decree. Kngine Pheasant's Perch. HOOD RIVER, Ore.. July 13. When the westbound Pendle ton express of the O.-W. R. & N. pulled into the station here Monday, a China pheasant cock erel with a broken leg was taken from the pilot. The bird had flown against the train Just west of the city and managed to maintain a perch. It was turned over to Station Agent Fredricy. Mr. Fredricy says that last week it was with difficulty that he kept a pheasant hen out of the station waiting room. Po)h- Praying for Peace. MUNICH, Bavaria, July 13. An epistle sent by Pope Benedict to Cardinal Francis von Bettlnger, the Archbishop of Munich, and to the Pavarian bishops was published In the diocesan papers.
