He is the man who made Wilson's nomination possible and in doing so showed he had the manhood and the patriotism to sacrifice his personal ambitions to advance the principles In which he believes. He is the strongest indi vidual factor back of the administra tion today. It is because of these things not because of grape, Juice that Bryan is assailed. He is too strong and Influ ential to suit the tories. So every ef fort is made to break down his power and the arrows of ridicule are kept flying thick and fast. But as the Oregonian says the money trust is not doing it. No in structions from that source are need ed. Tory editors know some things without being told and one point they never forget is that whenever Bryan shows strength it is their cue to sneer. In the following editorial the Xew York World pays a compliment to the latest wireless victory: An Inspiring There are many won- Victory. derful triumphs to the credit of wireless tele graphy for life-saving at sea, from the case of the steamship Republic to that of the burning Volturno, and be yond. But among them all there Is none more remarkable and thrilling than this rescue of most of those on board the Cobequil and the assured safety of the remainder. This staunch liner had run upon rocks somewhere t along the danger ous approaches to the Bay of Fundy ii the midst of a blinding storm. It must have been in danger of being pounded rapidly to pieces by the mountainous seas. Below-zero tern peratures added to the dangers and ti-rror of the situation. Its wireless apparatus worked feebly and uncer tainly in the wild disorder of the at mosphere and was never able to give the ship's exact location, because this was not known on board. But the distress calls were heard and how bravely heeded by ships from the American and Canadian shores, and by ships at sea, groping through the mist and storm in a hunt as dan gerous as it was blind, the news of the morning tells. Only two figure in the first rescue, but to others equal credit is evidently due. This is of the new power of man over the forces of nature by which the call of distress can be sent widely circuling through the air, and of the new humanitarianism of the sea which at the call hurries all ships within reach from their course to the work of rescue. It is most inspiring. LOCALS Advertising in Brief RATES. Per Una flrat Insertion.. 10c Per line, additional Insertion. .. .5c Per line, per month ...11.00 Count 6 ordinary words to line. To transfer such a play as "The Third Degree" from the stage to the screen was attained with extraordinary dif ficulties. The Klein variety of mod em melodrama depends not a little on its dialogue. On closer examina tion however, it will appear that dia logue is not essential to the success of the play and that, in the hands of a competent director, there is enough purely dramatic material to make an attractive screen play. The sluation in the play are all strong and logical and action is never neglected for the sake of mere characterization. A leading physician here at the time, treated her without the slight est success. A sample of your Swamp Root having been left at the house at the time, I resolved to try It, and as It agreed with her stomach I continued using it with grateful re sults. The Inflammation began to subside after she had taken the first fifty-cent bottle, and after she took two large bottles she was pronounc ed cured by the doctor and has been In good health ever since. The doc tor came to see her every day and examined her every second day until he pronounced her kidneys In perfect condition. Now then the doctor was under the impression that I was giving my girl his medicine, but as his medicine had failed to do a bit of good, and desiring not to offend him, I did not tell him I was giving her Swamp Root and he does not know the dif ference. I did not use one drop of his medicine after I started my girl on Swamp-Root, and have always felt that Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root saved my girl's life, for which I am grate ful. i I cannot praise it too highly. When your kidneys hurt and your back feels sore don't get scared and proceed to load your stomach with a lot of drugs that excite the kidneys and Irritate the entire urinary tract. Keep your kidneys clean like you keep your bowels clean, by flushing them with a mild harmless salts which removes the body's urinous waste and stimulates them to their normal activity. The function of the kid neys is to filter the blood. In 21 hours they strain from it 500 grains of acid and waste, so we can readily understand the vital importance of keeping the kidneys active. Drink lots of water you can't drink too much; also get from any pharmacist about four ounces of Jad Salts; take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast each morn ing for a few days, and your kidneys will act fine. This famous salts Is made from the acid of grapes and lemon Juice, combined with lithia and has been used for generations to clean and stimulate clogged kidneys; e.lso to neutralize the aclda in urine so It no longer is a source of irrita tion, thus ending bladder weakness. Jad Salts is inexpensive, cannot in jure; makes a delightful efferves cent llthla-water drink which every one should take now and then to keep their kidneys clean and active. Try this, also keep up the water drinking, and no doubt you will won der what became of your kidney trou ble and backache.
