Ore., Feb. 21, Today the citizens of Hermlston were sur prised to find the doors of the Co lumbia Mercantile company cloBed, but not by the usual cause for closed doors. Inquiry having been made brought out the fact that the entire stock had been sold to some Idaho Rheumatic Blood is Vholo Story Wonderful Specific for Sci atica, Lumbago, and a Cure for Dreaded Ar ticular Rheumatism. LIGHT FRANCHISE GRANTED AT STAN FIELD There is a host of pills, powders, tab lets and what-not for rheumatism, but they all lack the first essential to being a natural medicine. To begin with, rheu. matlsm is simply a name given to desig nate a variety of pains, and can only be reached by Irrigating the entire blood sup ply with a naturally assimilative anti dote. True, the pains may be eased with narcotics or the acids may be neutralized for the time being with other acids. But these merely tempor'zo and do not even lead to a cure. There is but one stand ard rheumatism remedy, and It reflects the best thought of the day. It Is pre pared In the great Swift Laboratory In Atlanta, Ga., and sold in all drug stores under the name of S. S. S. at 11.00 a bottle. Starvation has been advocated by many as a cure for rheumatism, and yet S. 8. S. accomplishes In fact what faddists pro claim In theory and without the punish ment of starvation. Hot springs and sweating are often recommended, but 6. S. S. does all that is expected of these expensive and weakening methods. It is conceded by the closest students of the subject that rheumatism is caused in most cases by an acid condition of the blood and aggravated by the remedies commonly used for relief. In other cases rheumatism Is the result of nerve depres sion; In still others it is the effect of some scrofulous blood condition, having been treated with mercury, Iodides, arse nic and other poisonous mineral drugs. The recoveries of all these types of rheumatism by the use of 8. S. S. Is a wonderful tribute to the natural efficacy of this remarkable medicine, for H is as similated Just as naturally, just as spe cifically, and just as well ordained as the most acceptable, most palatable and most readily digested food. Do not fail to set a bottle of S. 8. S. to-day. Tou will be astonished at the results. If your rheumatism is of such a nature that you would like to consult a great specialist confidentially, write to The Swift Specific Co., 127 Swift Bldg., Atlanta, ua. Mr. Chas. H. Holman, one of the partners of the company, will again go to Baker, Oregon, where he has extensive interests In some wheat land. Mr. Jones, the other partner, will for the present at least remain in Hermlston. Wm. Hahn, who has been dealing mainly in harness, etc., since In busi ness here, has purchased a $700 stock of men's and boys shoes to add to his line and expects to have the stock ar ranged and ready for sale in about two weeks. He will handle the same line of shoes formerly sold by the Brooks company when in business here about two years ago. (Special Correspondence.) Stanfield, Feb. 21. (From Thursday's Journal.) The extent of hog offerings at North Portland seemingly has little effect except perhaps when they are light when losses in the prices are forced. Today there was a liberal of fering in the swine trade and the market actually showed an advance of a dime above yesterday with tops this morning at $8.20. The advance here was made in the face of a decline at most points east of the Rockies, the market here bare ly getting under way for an advance until the full force of the rise has been spent elsewhere. I had pim ples on my face, my complexion was sal low, my sleep was disturbed, I had ner vous spells, was very tired and had no ambition. Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegeta ble Compound has worked a charm in my case and has regulated me. I worked in a mill among hundreds of girls and have recommended your medicine to many of them." Miss Estella Ma cuire, 110 Thwing St, Saint Clair, Pa. There is nothing that teaches more than experience. Over Worked Stomach When your stomach will not digest food, the worst thing you can do is to take a lot of digestive medicines. True they give temporary relief, but your stomach is the sufferer. Loss of ap petite, Indigestion, dyspepsia and headaches can only be permanently relieved by removing the cause. In many casts, various remedies taken to relieve theee conditions result in ruining the stomach and preventing it from digesting food In a natural way. v; If-.you want your stomach to do Its own work properly, without resort ing to artificial digestives or predl gested foods, use Jayne's Tonic Ver mifuge. Take small doses regularly, preferably before meals. In a little time your stomach will again do Its own work and you will eat heartily, keep well and enjoy living. Jayne's Tonic Vermifuge is not a digester in itself, but tones up the stomach and Intestines, giving you all the nutri ment and strength f'om the food you eat. Many forms of supposed indigestion are the reeult of Intestinal parasites, for which Jayne's Tonic Vermifuge is unsurpassed. Insist on Jayne's; ac cept no other.
