It Is now possible to Ret an idea as to the future appearance of the place. Sixteen thousand laborers, under Colonel Cole are hard at work, and It is more than probable that the building will he complete within a year. No efforts are to he spnred to make the quarters provided for of ficials us comfortable as possible, al though perfectly wise economy is be ing observed. Metcalf house on the banks of the Jumna, which Is to pro vide housing for additional members of the council, is being considerably enlarged. The memners of the coun cil and other officials are to be ac commodated In Curzon house, when Its enlargement Is completeed. The council chamber, a panelled, room around which runs a gallery, Is to be found In a hi semi-circular building stretching along the Allpur road, with long wings extending on either side. The government press, post and telegraph offices will be ad jacent to the council chamber in a four block building of Immense pro portions which occupies a piece of ground immediately behind the edi fice In Allpur road. Circuit house on the famous ridge above the Durbar cam)) will be the future residence of the Viceroy of In dia. A small city Is springing up away to the north of Circuit house designed for the us of English and Indian clerks, government officials, pressmen and members of the Yice Itegal hand.
