La Craiwle made It two In a row, taking the first frame yesterday afternoon y the score of 4 to 3 and tlie second same 1 to 0. The first contest was spread over 11 Innings, while the sec ond Just got over, running but five li aim s. Both games wire excellent from tlie spectators viewpoint, there being Jots of hitting- and catching, the most sensational play was In the last halt -of the fifth inning- when Leonard's high fly wt-nt Into Ford's hands at second but he tossed it into the air and Luttrell caught it. In the 11 Inning game Mauser and Mountain were opponents and both lid fair. Walla Wulla was the first to score and took two In the first inning. Chil lers hit a high fly to the infield and ford and Naughton mixed, Childers setting to second. Harmon sent a two bagger to left field scoring Chil ders. Thompson's two sacker through second scored Harmon. In the fourth La Grande took a couple. Jamison sent a three bag ger to center and Naughton's two bag ger along the left base line scored him. McBride's single brought In Naughton. In the fifth La Grande forged head, Luttrell hit between third and short; King sacrificed him to second; Jamison knocked an easy one to Chil vlers, who instead of tagging Luttrell threw to first, his sights being raised so that he overthrew and Luttrell Scored. "Walla Walla, tied the score in the seventh. Martini hit safe and ad vanced on Mauser's blngle. A balk on .Mountain's part advanced both and Martini came home on a wild pitch. E. 19 2 Notice Is hereby given that at a regular meeting of the Common Council of The City of Pendleton held on August 21st, 1912, the follow ing resolutions were adopted: Whereas, the Surveyor of The City of Pendleton did on the 21st day of August, 1912, under direction and by request of the Common Council file plans and specifications for an ap propriate Improvement of Webb Street, in The City of Pendleton from the West line of Main Street to the East line of Cosbie street together with the estimates of the work to be done and the probable cost thereof, with a statement of the lots, parts of lots and parcels of land to be bene fited by such improvement, and the percentage of the total cost of im provement which each of such lots, parts of lots and parcels of land should pay on account- of the bene fits to be derived fro:.i such Improve ment; and Whereas, the Council has examined such plans and specifications and found the same satisfactory and the estimates therefor to be In accord ance with the probable cost of such work; and Whereas, the property recommend ed by the City Surveyor to be In cluded within the boundaries of the district benefited is, in the Judgment of the Common Council properly to be included within such improve ment district, and no property is ex cluded therefrom which should properly be Included therein; and Whereas, the improvement of the hereinabove described portion of said Weeb Street with Gravel Bitulithlc Pavement Is at this time necessary; therefore, be it Resolved by the Common Council of The City of Pendleton that It Is expedient to improve and it Is hereby proposed to improve Webb Street in The City of Pendleton from the West line of Main street to the East line of Cosbie Street (except the strip along the center of said street 8 feet wide, occupied 'by the Railroad track of the Xorthern Pacific Railway Com pany) by paving the same with gravel bitulithic pavement, such pavement to be made and laid down, and the street to have curbs and gutters and all other things, In accordance with and as shown In the plans and speci fications for the Improvement of said portion of Webb street prepared by Geary Kimbrell, City Surveyor, filed with the CItv Recorder, on the 21st day of August, 1912, which ;lans and specifications are hereby particularly referred to; and be It further Resolved, that the plans and speci fications and estimates for such im provement, as prepared by the City- Surveyor and filed with the Recorder of The City of Pendleton on the 21st day of August, 1912. be and they are hereby approved and adopted; and be it further Resolved, that the cost of making such Improvement shall be a charge and lien upon all lots, parts of lots and parcels of land to be benefited by such Improvement, and the owners of such lots, part of lots, and parcels of land so specially benefited by such Improvement shall he liable for the payment of the costs thereof; and be It further Resolved, that an assessment dist rict Is hereby created to be known as Assessment District No. 18. embrac ing the property to be assessed for the payment of such Improvement, which assessment district shall In clude all lots, parts of lots and par cels of land lying and being within the district bounded and described as follows, to-wlt: Comenclng- at the S.
