In court the "count" dismissed the lawyer and re tained Bernard Cooper. When the case was called, Cooper addressed the court, declaring that the "count" had been fleeced out of $25. "These men told the defendant that he would be thrown Into jail unless he paid them $100," Cooper said, "lie has not been treated fairly." "I 'was willing to let this: case drop without a hearing," said Benjamin D. Simon, representing the complaint, "but now I ask that this defendant bo punished." Placed Under Parole. "The defendant Is ordered placed under parole for a year," said the court. "He will report once a month us to h!s behavior." "Count" Orloff denied he intended any wrongdoing. "I Intended to pay for the typewrit er," he said. "After I bought it I went to Wisconsin, leaving It in a studio. When I returned the ma chine had been stolen.
