A clever trap ar ranged In the home of Julius Ebe "was the means of catching a burglar. For weeks the family had missed ar ticles from the barn. A wire was attached to the rear gate of the yard In such a way that It would ring an electric bell in a sleeping room of the home in case It was opened at night. Mrs. Ebe was aroused by the ring ing of the bell. With a large dog as her guardian she made quickly and juietly to the barn, which had beep wired and provided with electric light The sw itch was turned on and Charles Glanders, a neighbor, was revealed sitting in the center of the barn floor it is said, going through the contents of a wash basket containing clothes of the family. Mrs. Ebe ordered the man not to move under threat of turning the vicious dog on him. He remained quietly in his place. Mr. Ebe and other members of the family notified the police. The man made one at tempt to move, but the dog halted him. When the police arrived he of fered no resistance. rubies, sapphires and other manu factured gems whoch are now sold in the open market A BEAUTIFUL TEMPLE- SYNTH KTIC niAMoxns. There recently appeared in Paris some diamonds having all the ear marks of the genuine article, Perhaps the most interesting, sure ly the most exquisite, house of prayer in the world is the Little Temple of the Lord's Prayer in Palestine, erect ed on the spot where it is belevei the Savior taught His prayer to the dis ciples. The little temple is of pure white marble with simple straight lines, distinctly unlike the architec ture of the Orient. "Our Father which art in heaven" in every known language Is carved on the walls and columns, and Is the only decoration of this supremely lovely place. To see it in the soft opal twilight of the East or at moonlight, or in the earliest dawn, is to understand the matchless words of the Master translated into marble. Xo I"lkie Court. The ieace and quiet of the city was undisturbed last night and the police court was dark this morning in consequence. Game Tomorrow Morning. The Boise-Pendleton game sched uled for tomorrow win ba played at 10 o'clock in the morning instead of the afternoon on account of th 101 Ranch showing in the afternoon. The diamonds were believed to be manufactured by a synthetic process, but by the experts who examined them they were claimed to be genu ine. From this, it seems, the secret of , making diamonds Is rapidly being solved, and it will not be long until this new product of the electric fur nace will take its place with synthetic At the London zoological gardens there has just- been completed an arrangement of electric lamps which Is to be used for fooling the birds in one of the houses. A switch outside the building controls the lights, and very morning before daylight the keeper turns on the current As soon as the birds see the light they think the morning has dawned and they immediately begin to eat. In this wav thty are induced to breakfast two hours earlier than they would or dinarily. The same idea has for some time been put to practical use in fat tening quail for the market These birds take" their food only during the early morning hours, so they are kept in an underground chamber where it is dark except when the electric lights are on. als as d tie Sjea'Xh : xuty." !
