(From Fridays Journal). Kopplln today resolved the hlgh et price ever reached in' the Port land market ' for culves. He had 12 head from PInevlew that averaged 142 pounds that Hold at $8.85. The cattle situation is agnln show ing much strength here. The high est price ever puld for calves was ob tained this morning when 12 head mat averaged 142 pounds went at $8.85. This Is a dime above anything heretofore received in the North Portland yards. Outside of the calves, there was practically nothing offering In the mattlo market here today. Only a single head appeared to save the mar ket from showing a goose egg. According to leading receivers, the eMire came market . is permeated with strength, and with the recent sale of steers at $7.15. the market is considered better than at this time during any jjrevlous year. This fully confirms the eurly fore casts made by this paper that cattle prices in 1912 would break all previ ous high records for the Portland market. At that time meat companies were bearish In their views. In fact the extent of their views can be seen when it is noted that few of them contracted any material supply In ad vance, and have therefore been forc ed upon the open market for their daily needs. Killers Cannot fceo Shortage. Even as short a time ago as a few weeks leading meat companies did not seem to appreciate the fact that cattle were scarce, although they had ample warning In The Journal for months that the northwesfs supply was dwindling. For that reason they were frightened when there was a temporury rush to market and they began to beat around 'to see If they could not unload the surplus on oth ers. Those who really bought the cattle and saved them awhile made money by the transaction. After two' months they were all over my body, some coming, and some going away.' In about six months the bolls quit, hut my arms, neck and liody broke out with an itching, burning rash. It would burn and Itch, and come out in pimples liko grains of wheat. I was in a terrible condition ; I could not sleep or rest. Parts of my flesh were raw, and I could scarcely bear my clothes on. I could not lie in bed J:i any position and rest. In about a year the pores extended down to my feet. Then I suf fered agony with the burning, Itching sores. I could hardly walk and lor a long time I could not put on socks. "All this time I was trying everything I could hear of, and had the skill of three doctors. They said it was eczema. I got no benefit from all this. I was nearly worn out, and had given up In despair of ever being cured when I was advised by a friend to try Cuticura Remedies. I purchased Cuticura Soap, Ointment, and Resolvent, and used exactly as directed. I used the Cuticura Remedies constantly for four months, and nothing else, and was perfectly cured. It Is now a year, and I have not had the least bit since. I am ready to praise the Cuticura Remedies at any time." (Signed) E. L. Cate, Exle, Ky., Nov. 10, 1910.
