MEASURE PROVIDES FOR
PUNISHMENT OF SPIES
Washington, D. C, Jan. 13. The
house Judiciary committee today vot
ed favorably on the report providing
punishment for spies In times of
peace. It is designed to remedy the
detects of the present law which
provides for no punishment. An at
tempt will be made to put the bill
through the house. The measure
would affect the activity of the Jap
anese spies In the Philippines, and
the recently discovered activity of the
Jap spies is said to be responsible
for the action today.
