A new high record that gladdenod the hearts of shippers was made In tho Stockdale yards to ay when a sale In fact several salon out of the same' lot of cattle wore made at $5. SO or 16c above tho extreme high point reached for steers p to this time during the present season. Market for cattle is so good that higher prices are likely from this fme forth. There Is only one dis turbing feature of the present soa cn tho fear that the meat voycott to the east will spread to the Pacific oast and stop much of the consump tive demand. In fact, the eastern sit uation Is serious enough at this time t force shipments of Montana cattle H the Portland market, icollent Tone at Present, However, Despite all fear for the Immediate Isture, however, there la a most ex cellent tone In the cattle market at this time Stockdale prices are limbing to their highest point and predictions of S6 for steers during the present season are now being freely made. On the basts of sales being made In the market for bulls, steers should be selling- even higher than today's rec ord, providing the quality offering was sufficiently good to bring the ! advance. Several sales of bulls were made In the yards during tho day around 13.75. This really means 14 75 for cows of equal quality and 15.75 for steers of the same select grade. Quite a fair run of cattle was shown la the yards during tho day but this Aid not in any way affect the demand nor the price. Total arrivals of cat tle for the day were 488 head. Because of the severe drop in swine values In the cast due to the deter mination of labor unions there to cut meat off their bill of fare for the pe riod of 60 days local hog prices are materially easier and buyers are not offering within 25c of former prices. There was a sprinkling of sheep In the yards today but considering the famine that has existed for so long a period, prices are paid not more than 25c higher. Today's range of livestock values: Cattle Prf'St J5.35 05.6O: medium, steers, IS; best cows. $4Q4.25; $3.75 494; poor cows $3; bulls, $2 GO 3.2S; stars, J 2.B0 f? S.
