While there may be some slight lowering of prlcca from the present level It Is not be lleved that the decline will amount to much. Although there huve been sev eral declines In eastern values during the past few days, the market there Is holding much better than expected and Is only a fraction lower than this market at the present time. The course of local prices depends upon what the eastern markets do within the next week or 10 days. A stiff tone there would hold any decline here In check but a lower range east would cause a reaction here. "I find considerable strength In the hog situation where I had not looked for," said Mr. Benson, of Ben son & Gould, to The Journal this morning. "I have advices that some hogs we expected In the local market would not come at all, for a price better than that basis, Portland de livery, had been obtained here." fclu-p Value May Go Higher. While no change Is today shown In sheep market values, prices are hold ing firm. Arrivals are very t scant, but the big packers are getting most of their supplies direct from the in terlor, and therefore the arrivals are not noted in the totals at the yards. Cattle market is steady, with no ar rivals In the yards during the past 24 hours. A year ago today the cattle market was firmer, although values were un changed for the day. As the first parade of farmers ever held In Walla Walla county, the Farmers' associa tion of this county have announced that they would turn out 1000 strong 011 Saturday, October 17, the last day or the Walla Walla fair, and parade the streets of the Garden City before marching to the fair grounds. Local farmers have taken enthusiastically to the scheme, and It Is thought that every ranch and, farm In the valley will be represented In the monster demonstration. A peculiar fact, considering that Walla Walla county's chief Industry is farming, Is that never before have the farmers gathered for a demon stration of any nature. Although they number Into the many hundreds, they have never before formed In a pa rade. Although It Is the fair which calls them together this time, It Is not wholly on account of this that they will make the parade. The chief reason will be to Interest the farmers of this section In the Farmers' association to make that or- TESTED AND PROVEN.
