paying a minimum price of 6 a ton
for alfalfa in stack, the company paying for
hauling.
This year the alfalfa yield one quarter of a
mile from our project netted 8 tons to the
acre, the highest yield on the same land be
ing 10 tons. The cost for producing varies
from 1.25 to 1.50 per ton, giving a net in
come per acre on these figures of 36 to 38.

States In boyhood and was educated

later studying theology In France. He
was ordained n priest on December
21, 1 sfil. and was chaplain of the Fifth
Minnesota regiment in tho civil war.
His abilities as n scholar and theo

Archbishop Ireland Is not only a
distinguished churchman, but ho Is
also one of the foremost citizens of

the tenets of the great religious or
ganization of which ho Is a member,
no man rightfully may accuse John
Ireland of lack of hympathy with
what he regards as the rational lib
