Little Child Drowned.
A child aged two nnd a half years,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Rhine,
recent comers to North Yakima, was
drowned about noon oday In the Irri
gation ditch which flows past his
home near the fair grounds, says a
Yakima report. How the accident
happened is not known. The little
body was found by the mother lying
at the bottom of the ditch shortly af
ter she began a search for the little
fellow, whom she had missed.
It is believed that the child fell
from a small bridge or walk which
crosses the water In front of the
house. Another child, a brother a
year older, was on the scene but eith
er had not noticed the accident or
was too much of an infant to realize
its chnracter as he gave no warning.
