Elaborate preparations are being made for the occasion at xnis timi. Saturday will be rolltlcal day. which is being looked forward to as a very important day as it is just De fore election. The capacity of the Blue Mountain sawmill has been largely increased and It now has a capacity of 30,000 feet per day. Kepm of Athena, has been elected cashier of the Farmers' Bank of Weston, to succeed B. B. Hall, re riened. Mr. Kemp is a banking man of experience, having formerly been connected for many years wlththe First National Bank of Athena. Mr. Hall will leave shortly for Spokane where he will locate on account or nis wife's health. Mr. and Mrs. D. N. McDonald of Walla Walla, are visiting with their daughter, Mrs. Anson Woods, near Weston. Dr. Frank JIasbrouck of this place, has made arrangements to open a dental office at Granger, Idaho, and will locate there to remain. The formal open ing of the headgateB of the Umatilla project has attracted a great many of the Mllton-Freewater people to day. The people of this section who are familiar with fruit raising and irrigation see a great future for the west end of the county. Mrs. Anna Hlntz, a well known res ident of Freewater, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Clark, Monday evening, , her death having been caused by paralysis, with which she has suffered for some time. She was 66 years of age, and had made her home in the Fneewater country for many years. Two sons and two daughters survive her. The funeral will be held In Milton today, and in terment will be made In the I.' O. O. F. cemetery. C. E. Spence, E. K. Henry and J. F. Craddlck have been attending the grand lodge I. O. O. F., at" Salem. Strawberries are now plentiful In town. The cool weather has kept them from ripening as quickly as was expected, but it is expected that the season will be at Its height soon. Miss Jessie Frazler of Dayton, has been here visiting relatives for some days. Strawberry day In Milton, which will be celebrated June 4, will be the day of the year In Milton. General and Mrs. Frederick Dent Grant are host and hostess at Governor's Island to day on the occasion of the annual garden party of the Army Relief soci ety, and It Is expected that a large sum will be added to the coffers of the society for Its work. Families of enlisted men are the particular recip ients of the bounty of the Army Re lief society, and the manner In which help Is extended Is as varied as the needs of those assisted. The trustees of the Army Relief so ciety are Cornelius Vanderbllt, Cor nelius N. Blls s and Levi P. Morton. President Roosevelt and Secretary Root head the list of honorary vice presidents. The session marks the semi-centennial of the church and Is the most largely attended In the history of the general afsembly.
