"It has been said that when you see
one circus you see all circuses, mean
ing that they are alike. This may be
true of the general run of such enter
tainments. There may be bigger com
panies on the road, there may be some

pacity at the performance this after
noon and if there was one dissatisfied
spectator he failed to make his pres
ence known. From beginning to end
the circus is worth seeing. The me
nagerie is complete and the program
contains about everything that la
worth seeing In the circus line. A
special feature Is made of the trained
animals, the acrobats and the clowns
and all of them are excellent.
"Specially notable is the perform
ance of the five Potters, a .family of
acrobats that surpasses anything in
its line ever seen here. The double
twisting somersault done by the Pot
ters in the air while swinging from
one trapeze to another, and various
other feats were real novelties.
"In addition there were remarkable
slack wire performances by the fa

entirely new and dangerous feats. The
trained animals were all good and the
clowns, of whom there were some
thirty odd, bept the audience In an
uproar of laughter with their antics.
"The Sells-Floto show 'won a home
for Itself,' as the saying goes, some
time ago In these parts. Its enlarged
successor promises to more than keep
up the good work.
"A big crowd turned out to the
closing performance last night and J
everybody went away satisfied, the
notable feature being the uniform po

the highest to the lowest, treated their
patrons."
One of the features of today's ses
sion, rendered especially noteworthy
by the attendance of representatives
of several Indian tribes, was the re
port of the committee on work among
the Indians. Addresses on this topic
were made by some of the redskin
delegates.
The session this evening will be de
voted to a discussion of the report of
the committee on work among Spanish-speaking
people. Addresses will
be made by the Rev. Alexander Turn

Philadelphia, May 22. Final ar
rangements were completed today for
tho Amerlcun Henley, the Blxth annual
ruces of the American Rowing asso
ciation, which will be held tomorrow
on the Sthuyklll river course. While
the late spring has somewhat handi
capped the oarsmen, tomorrow's big
event has attracted a large entry list
and will be no less noteworthy than
its predecessors.
Harvard. Yale, Columbia, George
town, New York University and
Pennsylvania will be represented by
crews. The club entries Include good
representation from New York,
Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Boston, Bal
timore and WushlriKton. The Intpr-
scholustic race has attracted more en
tries than ever before and will assume
unusual Importance.
The list of 12 events will ho nmeti.
cally the Bame as a year ago, consist
ing or the following races: First
palr-oared shells, first elcht-oured
shells for the Stewards' cup, second
single eight-oared shells for the New
England cup, octopede or eleht-oared
sculls, Interscholastlc elght-oared
shells for the Franklin cup. first dou
ble sculls for the Schuylkill cup. first
four sculls, first single sculls tor tho
Farragaus cup, first four-oared shells
for the Puritan cup. Junior colleelate
elght-oared shells.
Although the stewards make no nnr-
tlcular race the feature of their nro-
gram, the splendid turn out each year
for the Junior collegiate elght-oared
race has made this event the most
exciting of the day. Last year there
were four starters, Yale, Cornell,
Pennsylvania and Georgetown. Har
vard was entered for the race, but
rowed Instead In another event.
The eligibility rules for this race
will be the same ns heretofore. Only
those oarsmen who have never sat In
a varsity boat at pnughkeepsle or New
London are eligible. This race Is
becoming more popular every year
because It affords racing experience
to the green oarsmen who otherwise
would get none until they made a
varsity boat.
Outside of Pennsylvania, which al
ways has four crews In the regatta.
Harvard and Yale will be best rep
resented, each with two eights. Har
vard has been sending two crews for
several years and Yale men were so
well pleased with the double victory
of their crew a year ago that they will
send down two crews tomorrow.
In order tha the regatta may be run
off on schedule time It has been de
cided to pursue the double referee
system which this association Inaug
urated at Its first regatta. The two
referees will he Hugh Cabot of Bos
ton and William Innes Forbes of
Philadelphia.

Instead of being checked, the disease
spread. It showed it' If on her back,
and then quickly spread upwards until
the whole of her head was affected, and
all her hair had to be cut off. The pain
she suffered was excruciating, and
what with that and the heat and tin
gling her life was almost unbearable.
She became run down in health, and at
times was very feverish, languid, and
drowsy, and occasionally she was de
lirious. Her nerves were in such a low
state that she could not bear to be left
alone. In spite of the cold weather
she would insist on having her bedroom
window open, and would lean out on
the window-sill. She did not have a
proper hour's sleep for many nights.
The second doctor we tried afforded
