Many dis tlnguished men arrived in Washing ton to participate In the conference called by President Roosevelt, to be gin tomorrow and continue through several days, when methods of con serving the country's natural resour ces will be fully threshed out. In addition to the governors of sev eral states, and the heads of several great industrial, commercial and civic; bodies, the congress will be addressed by William J. Bryan, James J. Hill John Mitchell and Andrew Carnegi who were specially Invited by Presi dent Roosevelt. The members of the conference will be entertained at a dinner at the White House this evening. The ses sions of the conference will begin th following morning In the historic east room of the White House, and will continue for three days. Two ses skins a day will be held. . President Roosevelt will deliver the opening ad dress, and it is probable that he will preside at the sessions of the confer ence. This will be the first time In the history of the country that a confer ence of this importance has been held In the east room, or In the White House at all. Substantially, It will be the first time that the president of the United States and the governors of important states have been called Togetner to consider matters of ex treme public Importance. The Indications now are that the ca pacify of the famous east room will ie testea, as eacn or the governors will be accompanied by three dele gates from his state and about 40 great national organizations will be repre sented at the conference. To add to the numbers, cabinet officers, mem bers of the United States supreme court and members of congress have been invited to attend the sessions.
