The movement into the Canadian northwest from the border states will be somewhat larger this year than last, says an Ottawa report It Is pointed out that the move Canada wards Is principally from Utah, the Dakotas, Minnesota and other west ern states, the people dlsvoslnar of their lands there at upward of $50 per acre to take up land In Canada at $10 per acre or less. - If there has been an Increase of ar rivals from the United States, the same can not be said of those from Britain. This is due to the stricter regulations which have been adopt ed by Canada In connection with set tlers from tho British Isles. A feature of the present movement from the United States to Canada is the repatriation of French Canadians. Thousands of these people are this year abandoning tho manufacturing centers of New Kngland and the mid dle states, and are either returning to yuebpc or are swelling tho tide of newcomers to tho provinces of Alber ta and Saskatchewan. So far Rhode Island and New Hampshire have fur nished the latRPst contingent o.' thoss returning north. WOMAN MAY TIE IP PROJECT. Owner of Yakima Valley Homestead Objects to Irrigation Dam. Operations of the Pleasant Valley Irrigation company, one of tho largest enterprises now under way In this valley, may be tied up by injunction proceedings which Miss Laura Flick Inger of Long Beach, Cul, threatens through her attorney, says a North Yakima Item. The Pleasant Valley Irlgation com pany s constructing a dam to- hold the waters of the East Selah valley. Miss 'Fllckinger Is the owner of 160 acres of land which will be under wa ter If the dam is ever put to use. On her land, Is a spring, which, it Is con tended, furnishes enough water to enable her to cultivate her land should she so desire. She thus considers her property to be valuable and is willing to sell at a fair price. So far, however, the com pany has proceeded with Its work without reference to her.
