Grain prospectis are considered good in this section of tic county, especially sine the rain has fallen. Preparations for holding the Cale donian picnic here May 22 and 23 are well under way. The committee In charge are perfecting arrangement rapidly. Peach, apricot and cherry trees are t. full bloom here, and indications for a large crop of these varieties of fruit are promising. A dance is announced for Saturday rilght at the Athena opera house. At the Beumonl home a few miles from Milton, Judge Brents of Walla Walla, .united In marriage Wednesday morning, Archie Cobb and Miss Mary Beumont, two of the popular young people of this section of the county. A wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride's parents. The young couple will reside at the groom's fruit ranch at what Is known as Cobb's crossing. Ileal Estate Sales. J. E. What Is known here as the Owl racing stables of running horses, owned by F. E. Pierce, were shipped yesterday to Calgary, Canada, says the Baker City Democrat. The sta bles consist of the following horses: Peter J., Fondo, i.-iterantn and Tom Thumb. The season opens at Pros ser, Wash., May 7, 8 and 9; at Cam brook. Canada. May 24, 25 and 26; at Calgary. May 27, 29, 29 and 30. From that time the season extends for five months The stables will re turn to Baker City In time for the fall meeting here. Vaudeville in Mexico. Wichita, Kan., April 16. "Ad vanced" vaudeville will soon Invade the republic of Mexico, If plans being made by an amusement syndicate, headed by J. T. Nuttle, of this city, are brought to a successful comple tion. Mr. Nuttle has recently been Investigating amusement conditions in the southern republic, with a view of establishing a chain of vaudeville houses In Mexico City, Monterey, Chl- hauhua, Torreon, Guadalajara, Tam plco nnd other Mexican cltlew.
