Miss Diana McLain, who Is her guest. Mrs. J. D. Plamondon of Athena, spent a couple of days this week the guest of Miss Gertrude Sheildan. Mr. E. R. Swlnburn Is expected home tomorrow from a two weeks' visit at Portland. Mrs. R. Alexander returned home on Friday from Baker City, where she has been visiting relatives. Mrs. Charles Kahn, of Portland, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Max Baer, left for her home today. Mrs. Elmer P. Dodd will return on Monday to Hermlston. Mrs. Ernest Tatom is visiting at Walla Walla. Mrs. Hexter, accompanied by Miss Irene Hexter, will leave next week for Portland, where they will spend the summer. Mrs. A. Goodman entertained the North Side "500" club on Tuesday evening. Prizes for points were won by Mrs. Charles Kahn of Portland, and Mr. Henry Laatz. The club guests were Miss Sadie Baum, Mrs. Laura Nash and Mrs. Charles Kahn. Mrs. Charles Kahn of Portland, was the honored guest at a small company of bridge on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Henry Laatz. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bean and Mrs. J. E. Bean entertained the T. A. C. last Thursday afternoon socially at the home of the former. Each member brought a limerick pertaining to the club or some member of the club, the reading of which caused a great deal of merriment. Mrs. C. F. Colesworthy received the prize for the best composition, and Mrs. Burroughs captured the prize for best supplying the missing line In a limerick furnished by the hostess. Mrs. Prultt rendered a piano solo and Mrs. Dickson sand several numbers. Refreshments were served. Mrs. J. R. Dickson and Mrs. W. C. E. Prultt will entertain the Thursday afternoon club at Its next meeting, at the home of Mrs. Dickson. Distance of 420 Miles Covered In 23 Hours and 15 Minutes. Special cable to the Times from Nome says that In the face of terrible storms, Albert Fink's dog team won the annual race across the Seward pe ninsula from Nome to Candle and re turn, covering the distance of 420 miles in four days, 23 hours and 15 minutes. Berger came In second and Atkinson third. The winners reached Nome Tuesday morning at 6 o'clock and In spite of the early hour, 800 people were lined up at the finish, as the progress of the race on the trail was reported from time to time by telephone.
