It was decided to postpone the final meeting and decision on the matter for 30 days. The delegates have returned home greatly encouraged with the prospects of securing favorable consideration at the final meeting with hte officials. In the meantime efforts will be made to secure recognition for the shorter day on other lines Included In the Harriman system and what may be called a concerted movement for an eight-hour day Is now on. The local difference between the firemen and engineers on the Atlantic and Pa cific In Texas has been settled, but the eight-hour day Issue is still being considered. It Is now thought that when the brakemen and conductors present their case at the meeting 30 days from now, that the engineers and fire men will also send delegates to that meeting to urge a shorter day. Texas Trouble Settled. A special from Austin, Texas, says of the settlement of the trouble: The strike of the firemen on the Southern Pacific is at an end. The men will go to work tomorrow noon. The basis of settlement was reached tonight during a conference between Vice Grand Master Shea for the fire men, and Vice Grand Master Wills for the engineers. The railway officials had no part in the final conclusion of the trouble. The firemen are said to have receded from their contention except as to seniority to be from the time a man became a fireman, and an engineer from the time a man be came an engineer.
