Walla Walla wheat, fruit and man ufactures are known the world over because Walla Walla county people Insist on everything bearing the Walla Walla brand. Walla Walln wheat Is given a name and a place on every market In the world and yet Umatilla county furnishes a large proportion of the wheat sold under this name. Walla Walla fruit Is the slogan in every market In the east, and yet Milton and Freowater grow a large proportion of the fruit sold as Walla Walla product. The East Oregonian would like to see a meeting of all the producers of Umatilla county called for the pur pose of adopting some uniform .trade mark or brand to be placed on every carload of produce, whethor grain, fruit, lumber, cord wood, ties, Indian robes, baled wool, flour, bran, pota toes, beef cattle, sheep, hay or other manufactured or agricultural pro ducts. This universal legend or trade mark should accompany the name of the producer and should advertise Umatilla county specifically. The county Is a producer second to none In the west and should not sub mit to having Its glory appropriated by Walla Walla county or any other well known advertiser. The East Oregonian .today publishes the law regulating land entries In the forest reserves, In answer to the many Inquiries which have reached this of fice concerning land entries In the Wenaha reserve, which is partly in Umatilla county. It will be noticed that land entries already made in good faith at the time the reserve was established on May 12, 1905, will not be Interfered with but entries or lo cations made subsequent to that time are of no validity and will not be rec ognized. Settlers In the reserve will be allowed to complete title to their land, although they must not tres pass on the reserve, and can only cut timber from their own land. A piece of sensational real estate aews yesterday was furnished by the refusal of an offer of $3,750,000 for the department store building on the west Bile of Broadway extending from Thirty-third to Thirty-fourth street, says the New York World. The structure occupies a plot of 2r, 00 square feet, Is assessed at $2,100,- and Is held at $4,125,000. Across Broadway the sale of the Id Tabernacle property at thei cor ner of Thirty-fourth street, with two batting lots In Thirty-fifth street, was arranged last May for $2,500,000. Trtt Tabernacle plot cost $78,600 In 1157 and was sold for $1,SOO,000 three years ago.
