The work on the well has been de layed by the lack of pipe, which was 'in shipment, and later by a soft rock formation, but this is now changing to easier ground, and It Is expected ! that before long they will strike the 'hot water vein. Mr. Fuchs says that i the water which now comes from this well Is quite warm, and there is every ' prospect that the big vein which Is i known to traverse this country through there somewhere will be 'tapped. This com- pany expects to use about 6.000,000 Meet of Oregon lumber per year, and tut this rate one-half of the supply will come from Union county. The entire shipment, when the lumber Is 'thoroughly dried, will amount to about 160 cat loads. The report shows that In South Elgin there are 403 people, while in North Elgin there are 732, making the total : population 11 35.
