PA0E HZ. AJLY EAST OREONIAN, PBrXBLETOff, OREGON, MONDAY, MARCH . 195. EIGHT PAGES. PURE BLOOD NECESSARY TO HEALTH. The Brook & McComas Co. Guarantee Vlnol to Make Pure, Rich, Red Blood. H "We see every day on our streets many people whose faces plainly show Impure and impoverished blood. We want everybody In Pendleton to know that Vlnol Is a splendid blood purifier and blood maker," said Mr. Brock, of the Brock & McComas Co. "Vlnol is the best preparation we ever fold in our store to make pure, rich, red t.r.od, because it contains in a highly concentrated form all of the medicinal, body-building elements of eod liver oil, but without a drop of oil or grease to upset the stomach. "Vlnol tones up and strengthens the nerves of the stomach and enables It to obtain from the food eaten the necessary elements to create pure, rich, red blood, and in ths way every organ in the body is strengthened and Invigorated, and the skin la cleared from all disfiguring eruptions." Mr. F. W. Bean, of Wilmington, Del., writes: "I suffered for months with poor blood, loss of flesh and strength. My physician prescribed different remedies, none of which helped me. I was discouraged when friend asked me to try Vlnol. I did so and never saw anything like it; it purified and enriched my blood, in creased my appetite, and I look and feel like a different man." "We guarantee Vlnol will purify and enrich the blood, create strength and build up every run down person tn Pendleton, or stand ready to return the money in every case where it tails." T. C. TAYLOR penpletoniax expresses niMSELF IN HAWAII. Surprised at tlie Push and Vigor Ex hilbtcd in tlto Islands and Observes the Social Conditions In the Terri toryOnly Two Clusses Found There: the Extremely Rich and Extremely Poor. The following intervew with T. C. Taylor appears In a recent number of the Hawaii Bulletin, one of the leading papers of Honolulu. It will be read with appreciation by the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor here: "What do I think of Hawaii? Well, I should very much like to tell you, but I really can't. My thinking and descriptive powers have been put out of business by the wonderful scenes I have visited In this territory. All I can say is that since I arrived here with Mrs. Taylor we have marched from surprise to surprise and the re sources, beauty and wealth of the country and the energy of its people which are in evidence everywhere have surpassed my wildest expecta tions." Thus spoke T. C. Taylor, a promi nent business man of Pendleton, Ore gon, when seen at the Hawaiian hotel last evening by a Bulletn reported. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor arrived here on the last voyage of the Korea and with a party of tourists have been vis iting all the tnterestng places of the Islands. They returned from the vol cano yesterday on the Mauna Loa, and while waiting for the Mongolia which Is due here on the 24th, will visit the sugar plantations and points of Interest of this Island. Taylor Typical American. Mr. Taylor is the typical American business man. He is an enthusiastic lover of the beauties of nature, but while revelling In the wondrous pano rama offered1 by Hawaii to the stran. ger within her gates, never loses an occasion to observe and scrutinise with a business eye all the avenues of commerce and industry open In the places that he visits. fl notice," said Mr. Taylor, "that all the steamship and railroad fold ers advertising Hawaii contain an ap preciative quotation from Mark Twain. Really that doesn't begin to express what I feel about the islands. First of all Mrs. Taylor and myself have been treated right royally both here and on Hawaii. The hospitality and courtesy of the people are not surpassed anywhere; why, look at this hotel tonight," and Mr. Taylor, with a comprehensive- gesture of the hand, pointed to the dining room and the lanals of the Hawaiian where a large number of guests were being enter tained at a Valentine's party; "can you Imagine anything like this on the mainland? I guess not. I used to think that Hawaii was like all tropic al countries, a land of listlessness and sleep and all that sort of thing, but I must apologize and admit that I was badly mistaken. "The working energy of your busi ness men I cannot comprehend and If President Roosevelt were here he would find all the strenuousness he wants. I am proud that It is an American land and delighted to notice the progressive spirit prevailing everywhere. Very Rich and Very Poor. "One thing seems to me to be a drawback, although perhaps it is in evitable and that is the holding of the wealth of the country by a small clas sof people. You have only two classes of people here, speaking gen erally. . The very rich who are a small minority and the working classes, universally poor, which com pose the great majority of the popu lation. There does not seem to be any middle class and this, you know, is and should be the backbone of every countiy. But, then, it is true that in a certain way Hawaii is a new land, .mil that perhaps a few years m-re v. IK see the islands peopled with American farmers and American ar-tl.'jr.s Of course, the labor question Is a very delicate one. I am, myself, a la te employer of labor and have al ways stood a friend to the working men in my employ, but I should not like to express an opinion upon the situation here. Conditions are so dif ferent, radically different, I might say, from those under which we live on the mainland, that a stranger who has but, at best, a superficial view of things should not be Justified in ex pressing a dogmatic opinion upon so delicate a subject. I have full confi dence, however, that the business men of Honolulu and Hawaii are entirely able to cope with any situation that may develop and that a few years hence Hawaii will be in a position to be welcomed heartily by all Ameri cans Into the sisterhood of states. "The volcano is really one of the wonders of the world; It Is worth coming from the uttermost ends of the earth to see. I eame, I saw, was conquered and am certainly coming again. Mrs. Taylor Is just as enthus iastic as I am and who would not be? The Volcano house is just such a place as it should be." Mr. and Mrs. Taylor have nothing but the highest words of praise for the reception given to visitors at the Volcano house and In this they are corroborated by their fellow tourists. They will depart for the coast on the Pacific Mall liner Mongolia, due here on the 11th. Included in the party which visited the Volcano last week were: Mr. and M's. A. A. Moore, Marshalltown Iowa; L. Christian. Minneapolis, Minn.; O. R. and T. W. Sturgis, Ven tura, Cal.; M. Guheen, Dubuque, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. E. Fuhr, HIlo; J. C. LuBch, Ackley, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. M.
