After several selections of music and the exchange of greetings and responses, the convention listened to a review of the e'ducationSI'features of the Louis iana 'Purchase exposition. This test' ure of the program, which occupied the entire forenoon, comprised a sym posium of addresses and papers pre serited by Howard J. Rogers, chief of the department ef education and dl rector of congresses of the late world's fair, and several Of his associates 'Means of Increasing the efficiency ff our public school work was the general topic at -The afternoon session. Prominent among those who took part In the general discussion were District Superintendent Albert G. Lane 6f Chicago, Superintendent Wil liam'!. Crane df'Marshalltown, Iowa, and Superintendent Carroll G. Pearse df'Mllwaukee. An Interesting program has been arranged for the open meeting this evening. Wllllam'T. Harris, United States commissioner of education, will speak on the subject, "Some of the Conditions Which Cause Variation In the Rate of School Expenditure In Different Localities," and "Group Morallty-Milldren;" will be the sub Ject -of an address by Professor Gee.
