"O Father, pray It witness unto wiiat I write this duy. Fetch paper, Ink and pen; ere I He still. For my heir's sake must I make out my will." The things were brought. He gazed with blurred eye. With feeble clutch he wrote: "About to die, Know all men that I leave these things In trust Tu hlni who follows me: I leave the rust And vanity of Gold. I leave Regrets. I leave Dull Care, and Roclul Sins, and Debts." He signed his mime. Time reud and loudly cried: "Old Year, give more! I am not sat isfied. This codicil I now command." And then Once more the palsied hand took up the pen, Obedient to the Witness stern above: "Also. I here bequeath Faith, Hope and Love." Tom Musson. In a special message to the Kast tiregonian today. Thomas W. Lawson, the author of "Frenzied Finance." says the knowledge of the working of the trusts will cause the American people to peaceably, legally revolt. While Thomas W. PHICES OF FARMING LAND. A prominent farmer, who is a close observer and a cautious investor, de clared to the East Oregonian last evening, that It la Impossible to estl mate the true worth ot the farming lands of Umatilla county, In the light of recent investigations. It had been aald by Eastern buyers that J80 per acre for wheat land that would produce but BO bushels per acre, worth at the highest price about 75 cents per bushel, waa too much to pay for thla character of land that It would not yield a rate of Interest suflclently high to make It a profita ble Investment. Looking at It aa a transient invest ment, aa a speculation on which to realize a fortune In a year, either by reselling the land or growing wheat, it is not a good speculation. But In another and a higher sense. It is a good Investment. If a man Is seeking a permanent Investment for his meana, what more permanent and Imperishable property, than real es tate, In a new and growing country, can he select? Especially ia this true, when the facta concerning Uma tilla county farming lands are taken into consideration. Listen: On a chemical test made at the Bmlthsonlan Institute at Wash' Ingtun, D. DISH ARM AND (il.ADSTOM:. V aches, a u drain upt tnlityand That Disruell wit was too much for Gladstone. The great liberal had bat one adjective for his Tory oppo nent and that was "devilish." Never during the years of their opposing leadership had the two any social re lations; each made light of the other's literary efforts. Some one asked Lord Beaconfleld to define the difference between a misfortune and a calamity, and unhesitatingly It came: "If Glad stone should fall Into the Thames It would be a misfortune. If any one should pull him out It would be a calamity." The best of all the Gladstone-Disraeli stories tells how once at a Lon don dinner party the ladles at the ta ble were asked which they would marry If they had to marry one or the other the great liberal or the great tory. All declared promptly In fa vor of Beaconsfleld save one. who hastened to explain that she had rather wed Oladstone that she might elope with Disraeli and so break her husband's heart. This happening was of course retold to Disraeli, and so pleased waa he over It that he sus pended a cabinet debate on the chances of a continental war In order to relate It. After four years' lonely vigil in a deserted portion of the bleak west coast of Vancouver Island a faithful Newfoundland dog, atlll waiting and looking out to sea for Its owner to come and take It away, has Just been killed because It had grown wild. Philip Nordstrom, who has Just re turned from a prospecting trip around Quatslno, brings the story. In 1899 the Peruvian bark Liber tad was wrecked, the captain and crew being saved after terrible pri vation by a passing sealer and landed at Cape Cook. The feelings oi nervousness, tne outoggcu nunu, lue ill-temper, the pale and wrinkled face, all result from thoae disorders peculiar to women, and the only way to effect their cure ir to strike at the source of the difficulty. There is every reason why she should write some great specialist, one who has made the diseases of women a spectaltT for a third of a century like Dr. R. V. Pierce, founder of the Invalids' Hotel and Surgical Institute, of Buflalo. N. Y. All correspondence is held aucredly confidential, and he gives his advice free and without charge. During a long period of practice, Doctor Pierce found that a prescription made up entirely of roots and herbs, without .the. use of alcohol, cured ninety-eight per cent, of such cases. After using this remedy for many years in his private practice he put it up in a form that can be had at any store where medicines are handled. In many cases Dr. R. V. Pierce's Favorite Prescription will fit the needs and put the body in healthy condition. So sure of it is Dr. Pierce, he offers a reward of $300 for women who cannot be cured , of Leacorrhea, Female Weakness, Prolapsus, or Falling of Womb. All he asks is a fair and reasonable trial of his means of cure. Don't allow the dealer to insult your intelligence by offering you a cheap sub stitute.
