Horethief Found Guilty by Yakima
Courts.
Jim Glngles, a brother of Jack Gin
gles, who was shot to death near
Spokane by officers while resisting
arrest, was convicted at Yakima yes
terday on the charge of horse steal
ing. Ho was not tried on the charge
of highway robbery, for which he was
arrested.
Leon Macry, a member of the Gln
gles gang, made a confession some
time ago. On the stand today he was
the main witness against Jim Gln
gles. He was with tho two brothers
on October 17 last, when they stole
William Bucholtz's horses In Horse
Heaven. The horses were driven Into
Oregon and sold. Jim Glngles was
captured this spring while working on
an Irrigation ditch near Prosser.

of Labor, arrived tin tho train from
Baker City yesterday morning, says
Wednesday's Sumpter Mirer. Ho
left In tho afternoon for n short visit
to Bourne, and will return In tlmo
to hold n public miss meeting for la
boring men In Labor Union ball this
evening.
Mr. Gram's nttontlon was called by
the reporter to tho published ac
counts of his alleged mission lo this
mining district.
A Baker City paper hns published
a rather sensational article to tho ef
fect that tho object of Mr. Gram's
visit was to endeavor lo Induro tho
members of tho Sumplor nnd Bourne
miners' unions to sever their connec
tion with the Western Federation of
Miners and affiliate with tho Ameri
can Fedora. Inn of Lnlnir. In spoak
ing of this story Mr. Oram said:
"I enn not Imaglno how such an ab
surd story over originated. While 1
wns In Baker City this subject was
never broached to mo either by news
paper men or others. It Is so absurd
as to scarcely need attention, save
that it might mislead those who are
not acquainted with tho objects of
tho American Federation of Labor.
"1 have received nn Instructions
from headquarters upon this subject
whatever, and certainly would not on
my own responsibility Institute such
a move. Instead of desiring tho min
ers lo sever their connection with tho
Western Federation of Miners. I ho
American Federation of Labor has
for some time been endeavoring lo
have that organization alllllnto with
the American Federation, as almost
all other national nud international
labor unions nro already nfllllatcd,
with the object of strengthening both
organizations.
"This proposition has been receiv
ed with considerable favor by many
of the leading members of (he mlti
ersers' unions, and It may yet ho ac
complished. I urn making a tour or

labor In genernl, and not lo bring
strife to existing unions."
